Pak Japan Friendship
Japan Pakistan Friendship:
The bilateral friendly relationship of Pakistan and Japan has a history of more than half century.  Japan has major contribution in the social
and economic development in Pakistan. In addition to that Japanese role for the provision of infrastructure in Pakistan is worth mentioning.

Japanese ODA to Pakistan
Japan started ODA to Pakistan in 1954 with providing technical training in the line with Columbo Plan. Due to nuclear test conducted by
Pakistan, Japan suspended the ODA since 1998. On April 30 2005, Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi visited Pakistan and announced to
extend two new Yen Loan projects to Pakistan.  Japan has contributed yen loans totalling 47.6 billion yen to the Indus Highway Project.
Japan also provided Pakistan with 12.7 billion Yen Loan for the construction of Kohat Tunnel.

New Yen Loan Projects in Pakistan:
New Yen Loan Projects in Pakistan amounts about 16.4 billion yen. These projects include Lower Chenab Canal System Rehabilitation
Project
and Load Dispatch System Upgrade Project  for stabilized and efficient operation of electricity  power supply system.
